# Connect an email sending domain

Admins can connect a domain so Distro sends workspace emails using the configured domain. You need access to its DNS records.

## Add and verify the domain

1. Open the workspace's **Email configuration**.
2. Enter the domain you control and continue through setup.
3. Copy the exact DNS records shown by Distro.
4. Add the records at your DNS provider.
5. Select **Check connection**.

Review **Domain ownership**, **Email authentication** and **Delivery feedback**. Setup includes DKIM and MAIL FROM records; keep all generated records in place. Use **Copy setup instructions** when your IT team manages DNS.

DNS changes can take time to appear. Use **Review DNS records** to compare names, values and MX priority with the generated setup rather than inventing values.

## Choose how replies work

A message template's **Host replies** option sends replies to the host through Reply-To. The workspace remains the sender. It is not the same as sending From the host's personal inbox.

Use the configured workspace sending identity; individual templates do not expose a separate custom From address. See [Email templates](/scheduling/email-templates.md).

## If setup is incomplete

If Distro has not generated a complete record set, use **Retry Setup** before changing DNS. If verification remains pending, check for duplicated domain names, incorrect record types and removed DKIM or MAIL FROM values.

After verification, test a controlled email and inspect the sender and reply destination.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.distro.so/settings/sending-domain.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
